Selection Criteria:
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Degree or 12 credits in English preferred.
Familiarity with Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum and teaching methodology is highly desirable.
U.S. or International Teacher Certification preferred.
Certification to teach ESL preferred.
Knowledge of AERO Standards in English Language Arts in Grades K–12 preferred.
Experience living in Sub-Saharan Africa is preferred but not required.
Knowledge and facility in the French language preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain up-to-date lesson plans throughout the year.
Teach English to students in grades 6-8.
Maintain an assessment and grading system in Google Classrooms.
Complete and submit grades and comments on Progress Reports quarterly and Report Cards at the end of each semester.
Assess and evaluate student progress in English and provide scores for report cards each quarter.
Take an active leadership role in school-wide Curriculum Mapping in English.
Order and maintain inventory of English books and novels.
Maintain class discipline, follow-up, feedback and documentation.
Make parental contacts.
Monitor and annotate student English notebooks, folders, and portfolios.
Develop and utilize English rubrics in grades 6-8.
Attend training on AERO and/or Advanced Placement English.
Contribute to the school's Monthly Unit Plans.
Lead a club of your own interest for students.
Take part in planning, leading, and participating in day field trips with the middle school.
Contributed accordingly to end-of-year Graduation activities for 8th graders.
Perform other duties as requested by the Director.

Student support Coordinator

The American International School of Conakry (AISC) is a diverse and inclusive learning community. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Student Support Coordinator to lead our special education programs and ensure every student reaches their full potential, and we are seeking a passionate and experienced Student Support Coordinator to join our team.
Position Overview
The Student Support Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of systems for tiered support, including specific support for students with diagnosed disabilities and neurodivergence. This role involves collaboration with teachers, parents, and external specialists to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of the school’s Tiered support programs.
Assess and identify students’ learning needs, through assessment and data collection.
Create and oversee Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Develop alternative programming or pathways to graduation as needed to support student needs.
Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and implement differentiated instructional strategies.
Provide training, coaching, and professional development to staff on inclusive education practices.
Communicate effectively with parents, providing guidance and regular progress updates.
Coordinate with external specialists and agencies when additional support is needed.
Foster an inclusive, supportive, and positive school culture that values diversity.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
Additional certifications in areas like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or Dyslexia are a plus.
Experience:
At least 3–5 years of experience working in a UDL or inclusion role.
Experience in an international school environment is preferred.
Skills and Strengths:
Strong knowledge of best practices in special education and learning support.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
Ability to lead, train, and inspire a team of educators.
Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs and using assistive learning technologies.
Culturally sensitive with a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
