Child Safeguarding at AISC
Commitment to Safety
At the American International School of Conakry (AISC), we are dedicated to the safety and well-being of our students. Our child protection and safeguarding policies are based on the UN rights of the child. And are designed to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where children can learn and thrive.
Code of Conduct
All faculty, staff, volunteers, and students at AISC are required to adhere to a strict Code of Conduct, which emphasizes the following principles:
Respect and Dignity: Everyone is treated with respect, integrity, and consideration.
Appropriate Boundaries: Faculty and staff must maintain appropriate physical, and emotional boundaries in their interactions with children.
Zero Tolerance for Abuse: We have a strict policy against any form of child abuse, including physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
Reporting Obligations: Any concerns regarding child abuse or neglect must be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities, including the school administration.
Training and Awareness
We provide regular training for all staff and faculty on child protection issues, helping them recognize the signs of abuse and understand their reporting responsibilities. Additionally, we educate students about their rights and the importance of speaking up if they feel unsafe.
Community Involvement
AISC actively collaborates with parents, local authorities, and child protection organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to safeguarding. We believe that creating a culture of safety requires the involvement and commitment of the entire school community.
Support Systems
Our safeguarding measures include:
Confidential Reporting Channels: Students and staff can report concerns in a safe and confidential manner.
Support Services: Access to counseling and support services for students affected by abuse or neglect.
Child Protection Team: A dedicated team within the school responsible for addressing child protection issues, ensuring policies are followed, and providing support to students and families.
Ongoing Commitment
AISC continually reviews and updates its child protection policies in line with international best practices and local laws. We are committed to fostering a safe environment where every child is protected and can reach their full potential.
